A YEAR OF PAPER FLOWERS- LOOKING BACK ON 2018

What an amazing year 2018 has been for my little paper flower business. Seeing it grow and to see my flowers in many different environments has been fantastic. So I thought I’d take this opportunity to share with you my adventures in a year of paper flowers for 2018!

REAL WEDDINGS

I feel honoured when couples want to include my paper flowers on their special day. Creating something truly unique to the couples requirements is so special. This year Petal & Bird has featured in some beautiful weddings.

Hannah & Brad
Kicking off the year was the lovely wedding of Hannah and Brad in Jamaica. For Hannah I created a bespoke flower crown featuring orchids and roses with matching hair accessories for her bridesmaids. A great way to start the year receiving lovely wedding photos of their special day in Jamaica celebrating with close friends and family.
A special congratulations goes out to the couple who welcomed a beautiful baby boy to the world this November.

Kat & Sam
Kat and Sam commissioned me to create flowers for their cake for their Spring Wedding to match their real wedding flowers, featuring roses, hydrangeas and green foliage. This was a special commission to create for a special couple as Sam and Kat where members of my first ever tutor group when I started my teaching career back in 2006.

Philly & Andy
A lovely beach setting in Sandbanks in Poole, Dorset saw Philly and Andy exchange their vows with rings and paper Hawaiian leis on their special day. Completed with blue flower accessories for the flower girls and page boys. Read more about their flowers here.

Amy & Chris
Amy and Chris married on the 16th August at Three Choirs Vineyard with a burgundy and peach paper rose and peony collection featuring the Bride’s bouquet, Bridesmaids posies and buttonholes for the groomsmen. A lovely collection and one they can treasure forever. See more from their wedding here.

Vera & Carlos
The beautiful Vera contacted me for a flower collection to take to their Ibizan elopement. They celebrated with a peach and burgundy collection including a Bridal bouquet, flower crown and buttonhole. Perfect for travelling to a lovely warm destination wedding.

Fay & Brien
Another destination wedding but this time in Portugal. Fay commissioned a collections of wrist corsages for her bridesmaids, her Mother and Mother in Law to be to wear on their big day. She didn’t want the bridesmaids to be worrying about carrying a bouquet throughout the day but still wanted them to have flowers. So I designed freesias, to go with her own bouquet, with gold centers that would flow around their wrists looking delicate but still robust enough to be worn all day and then to treasure afterwards.

First Wedding Anniversary Bouquet Recreations

In a year of paper flowers it has been my pleasure to recreate a range of stunning wedding bouquets that were commissioned by thoughtful husbands for their new wives to celebrate their first ‘paper’ wedding anniversaries. These are some of my favourite pieces to make as everyone of different and offer such a variety of flowers. It is so special to be asked to recreate a loving memory from a couples special day.#

Giving the gift of paper flowers work all year round and I am very thankful to my amazing customers for supporting my small business by placing orders for Birthday bouquets, Valentine’s day roses, Mother’s Day flowers and festive flowers for Christmas. PHOTO SHOOTS

I have been really lucky to work with some amazing photographers this year to help showcase my paper flowers. The shoots have been great experiences and have enabled me to work with lovely wedding suppliers in the industry and to spread the word of my paper florist skills. Made even more special when the images from some of these shoots have been published on national Wedding blogs.

MAGAZINE ARTICLES

Petal & Bird was really lucky to have a feature in the August edition of Etc Magazine interviewed by Charlotte Harding. A lovely two pages spread all about my paper flowers and its amazing to see my work in print!

PAPER FLOWER WORKSHOPS

This November and December saw my first Paper Rose Workshops take place and they were a great success and a lovely way to celebrate a year of paper flowers sharing my passion with others.
