“I was highly recommended Petal and Bird by a friend of mine after I was looking for corsages for my bridesmaids, my Mum and mother in law to be. Clare’s flowers looked amazing, I wanted something that could be kept after if wanted and looked classy. Clare assured me they would travel well as my wedding was in Portugal. They came perfectly boxed and travelled so well. Thank you Clare everyone loved them”

Sarah & Nicky’s Destination Wedding Flowers
I met Sarah and Nicky earler this year when they came for their paper flower consultation to discuss paper flowers for their destination wedding that was to take place in Italy.
We chatted about their exciting wedding plans and they had such beautiful ideas for their destination wedding flowers. Inspired by their love of cooking and eating they wanted the majority of their flowers to be edible in their natural state. Freesias where to be included as the bride’s Mum’s favourite and wisteria to remind them of their visits to Italy.
The Making of the Destination Wedding Flowers Collection
So the making began…The foliage was to include herbs such as rosemary and bay leaves. I have both of these growing in my garden so instead of working from a photograph I took cuttings to study and worked with a lovely green doublette crepe paper.
I created the freesias in yellow, the bride’s favourite colour, with orange details and paper lavender with hand drawn details to create definition. Simular purple tones were used in the creation of the wisteria branches and peach and white paper used for the roses.
Nasturtiums and sweet peas were some of my favourite flowers to create in this collection. Flowers I hadn’t made before and I really enjoyed working out their petal shape and construction.

Paper borage and cornflowers where created to add some lovely blue tones, using paper that I painted to give more realism.
The Paper Wedding Collection
Buttonholes were created for the Groomsmen and a corsage for the Mother of the Groom, these were made using a combination of roses, freesias and cornflowers with a stem of paper eucalyptus.

A floral piece was created for the Mother of the Bride that could to worn as either a corsage or as a head piece, made to match the destination wedding flowers.

The bride wanted her bouquet to have a wild feel with spray foliage and the wisteria to form some draping. The bouquet had added details of paper borage and camomile.

The bridesmaid’s bouquets were created as a smaller version of the bride’s bouquet in a posy style, providing the bridesmaid’s with a lovely keepsake from the special day. Each piece in the collection was finished with a lovely ribbon the match the bridesmaid dresses.

This was such a lovely wedding collection to create. I loved learning new flowers and techniques to bring the couple’s ideas to life and I am so pleased with the results.
Sarah and Nicky married in Italy on the 5th October 2019. I wish them all the happiness together and I can’t wait to see the professional photographs from their special day. Sarah got in touch recently and sent me these lovely pictures taken by their guests.

Its like a real flower by the looks, great color combination. This is by far the great paper flower I’ve seen so far in the articles I have read.
Thank you so much for your kind comments.
